Universities and colleges in several countries have hosted BDSM clubs, with an especially visible cluster in the United States. Some student groups for BDSM, fetish, and kink are officially recognized and funded. Others are informal education networks. How much nudity or consensual pain a club may show depends on school policy, insurance, and local law. What follows is a directory of schools that have had registered student clubs for BDSM, fetish, or kink education. It is useful for students looking for peers and for researchers mapping campus sex-positive organizing. These are adult students. This is not sexual content about minors, and it is not a how-to. Campus kink groups are often the first peer-led, negotiated introduction to consent language, toy safety, and community norms for people who, at twenty, will never walk into a leather bar. They do not replace adult play spaces. They are a main pipeline into a kink adulthood that can read the terms. Lists go stale. United States: clubs, workshops, and the university press
The United States has many dedicated student BDSM or kink clubs, and the campus map is wider than charters. Some schools without a formal club still run regular safer-BDSM workshops. Examples that get named are the University of South Florida St. Petersburg and Hofstra University. Other universities offer an academic door. Texas Tech, Indiana University, and Michigan State have had professors who research and teach curriculum related to BDSM. University presses at Duke, Indiana, and Chicago have published scholarly BDSM books by professors.
That three-layer pattern — student club, workshop series, research and publishing — is one way American higher education has partly normalized kink literacy. Related topics include BDSM in culture and media, BDSM and the law, and campus sex-education events such as Sex Week at Yale. Where young adults can study power exchange in public, the people who will later organize kink are already practicing how to hold a meeting.
