Gigi Raven Wilbur is an American bisexual-rights activist and writer whose work bridges sex-positive spirituality, intersex identity, and BDSM education. They hold a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and a master’s degree in social work, and they are widely cited for organizing the first Celebrate Bisexuality Day and for authoring The Dominant’s Handbook, an intimate guide to BDSM play.
Career and bi activism
Wilbur worked as a state organizer in Texas, hosted a bisexuality radio show, and served as a coordinator for BiNet USA. In 1999 they co-organized the first Celebrate Bisexuality Day with Wendy Curry and Michael Page—an annual observance that helped put bi visibility on the queer calendar. That same year, the American Institute of Bisexuality gave Wilbur its Globe Award for outstanding service to the bisexual world community.
Personal life, intersex identity, and Dragons Wylde
As of a 2008 profile, Wilbur lived in Houston, Texas, and coordinated the adult campground and the sex-positive Temple of Aphrodite at Dragons Wylde Ranch. Wilbur is intersex and has described identifying as third gender, neither male nor female. In that 2008 interview they said their birth gender was altered shortly after birth and that “I am hermaphrodite. That is my true gender.” They accept any pronouns and prefer they/them.
Writing: Dominant’s Handbook and spirituality
