Emma Holly is an American writer of erotic romance, often centered on BDSM. She was born in New Jersey in 1961 and grew up in Baltimore with her older sister, Laurie. She has said that, before adolescence, a fantasy of being Batman’s fiancée already pointed her toward writing. That is a remark about how she started, not a sexual story about a child. The novels are adult romantic fantasy. After about ten years of work she sold her first book in 1998 and stayed with erotic romance. Power exchange, and a bisexual male protagonist, show up often.
She has published more than twenty books. Standalone titles include Ménage (1998), Cooking Up a Storm (1998), Velvet Glove (1999), In the Flesh (2000), Strange Attractions (2004), Personal Assets (2004), All U Can Eat (2006), and Fairyville (2007; the 2008 edition adds an epilogue, and the story had earlier been the Amazon short And Then There Were Four).
