Male submission (often malesub) is a BDSM and erotic power-exchange situation in which the submissive partner is male. He may kneel for a woman, another man, or a non-binary dominant; the constant is agreed yield of authority, service, pain, or erotic humiliation. The label covers bedroom-only bottoms, lifestyle service submissives, clients of professional dominants, and men who switch but prefer the down role when they play. It is a role description, not a medical diagnosis or a permanent personality brand.
How Common Is It?
A 2015 study of men active in BDSM found about 46.6% preferred a submissive role, 24% switches, and 29.5% dominant—so among men already in the scene, submissive preference was the largest group in that sample. Percentages are local, not destiny, but “real men always top” does not match kink populations.
Forms and History
Common frames include cock and ball torture, forced feminization, chastity, cuckoldry, erotic humiliation, facesitting, golden showers, pegging, foot service, and clothed female / naked male (CFNM)—mild or extreme, scene or lifestyle. Negotiation and aftercare still apply. In the eighteenth century some European brothels already specialized in restraint and flagellation with female domination over male clients.
