Ran Masaki (Japanese: 真咲 乱; born 26 July 1965) is a former Japanese AV idol, pink film actress, and gravure model who rose in the mid-1980s and is remembered as Nikkatsu’s final “SM Queen” (SMの女王, SM no joō) for 1985–1986. For Roman Porno and Japanese SM cinema fans, that title is the point: she closed a studio lineage of marketed sadomasochistic leading ladies as Nikkatsu’s theatrical softcore era neared its end.
Three Roman Porno Films and Oniroku Dan
Masaki starred in three Roman Porno features, two written by SM novelist-screenwriter Oniroku Dan—the name that defined much of Nikkatsu’s branded bondage and torture fantasy for earlier SM Queens. The Dan connection places her inside the studio’s SM literary-to-screen pipeline rather than as a random pink cameo. Through 1987 she also appeared in adult videos leaning on her full-figured body as the main selling image—AV continuity after the theatrical SM-Queen spotlight.
Not the Same Person as Ran Mizukami
Some databases, including the JMDB, have wrongly merged her with Ran Mizukami (水上 乱), a pink film actress of the same period also known as fetish model Sawako (佐和子). They are different women. Collectors of 1980s Japanese SM and pink film should keep the names straight: Masaki is the Nikkatsu final SM Queen; Mizukami/Sawako is a separate pink-and-fetish track.
