In BDSM and fetish play, a posture collar is a rigid piece of gear with a plain job: it limits how far the neck can move. An ordinary collar mostly marks ownership or style. A posture collar works more like a brace. It holds the chin and lengthens the neck, so the wearer has a hard time looking down or slouching. The forced poise can read as pride, as display, or as vulnerability that someone else is controlling.
The front usually flares from the chin out to the collarbone, so the head cannot drop. Leather is the common material. Metal, rubber, and plastics such as PVC show up too. Tooling, spikes, locks, and D-rings for a leash or other restraint are all ordinary options. A locking closure turns a fashion piece into bondage hardware that stays shut. Fit matters because the collar presses the anatomy around the throat. Too tight, too tall, or worn too long, it can get in the way of breathing, swallowing, blood flow, or comfort in the neck.
