Mister Leather Europe (MLE) is a pan-European contest for leathermen held roughly every October, organized under the European Confederation of Motorcycle Clubs (ECMC) and hosted each year by a different member club. It is one of the main continental title circuits parallel to better-known North American events such as International Mr. Leather. Winners are often sponsored to compete at International Mr. Leather in Chicago the following May, linking European club leather to the global title calendar.
Origins and Eligibility
The first known contest was held in 1985 in Hamburg, Germany; the winner was David Riseborough of Sweden. Contestants must typically hold a local or regional ECMC club leather title—MLE is not an open walk-up pageant, but a gathering of men already recognized by member clubs. Weekend Format
The contest takes place during the ECMC Annual General Meeting (AGM), hosted by a rotating club. A typical weekend program looks like this:

- Saturday night: gala dinner, then the Mister Leather Europe Contest
- Sunday morning: farewell brunch
In years such as 2009–2011 the contest itself usually ran in two rounds: an on-stage interview and appearance segment, then a fetish show. That split mirrors other leather title formats—speech and presence first, gear and erotic display second—so judges and audience can score both community representation and leather presentation.
Scoring and Jury Practices
Scoring varies by year and is set by the host club. Generally the result combines judges’ scores with some form of audience ballot. For 2013, host club Leather Friends Italia published a clear split: the jury of judges would represent two thirds of the ballot, the public one third. Judges were invited at the sole discretion of the organizing club. Invited roles included Mister Leather Europe 2012, the ECMC Secretary, and the presidents of each club physically present at the AGM. A president could delegate the judge role only to another person from the same club. Judges were invited as jury members after their clubs registered for the AGM.
