Every March or April, at Easter, Berlin holds one of the biggest leather and fetish events in Europe. Easter in Berlin, also called Easter Berlin, was founded in 1972 and has been a yearly event since. Leather, rubber, sportswear, skin, and uniform lovers come from around the world and spend several days at events across the city. The people in those rooms are adults who have agreed to be there.
It is organized by members of BLF, Berlin Leder und Fetisch e.V., Berlin Leather and Fetish. This is not one club night. The run of it is parties, contests, and several days of scene socializing. In past years a high point was the election of German Mr Leather on Easter Sunday. Venues and the exact shape of the title change with what BLF announces. The meeting itself is still the leather community’s gathering.
The center is Nollendorfplatz, a long-standing gay and queer neighborhood in western Berlin. Folsom Europe, the autumn leather and fetish event, is held in the same neighborhood every year. For travelers who follow leather, Easter Berlin and Folsom Europe are both on the European calendar. Berlin Pride and Kreuzberg Pride are the city’s other large gay festivals.
