A bondage corset, used for activities of or relating to bondage, is a full-figured corset that is sometimes called a discipline corset. A bondage corset is very long, rigid, and restricting. It is constructed to place severe limitations on the wearer’s movements. It generally extends to just above the knees, and is constructed to be laced very tightly. This is not a short fashion cincher. It is a body-length restraint that happens to use corsetry instead of rope or cuffs.
Long wear and sleep
These corsets are often designed to be worn for long periods of time, including overnight and while sleeping. If they are not designed as such, they can be extremely uncomfortable if fallen asleep in. Tight lacing, coverage to just above the knees, and all-night wear are the combination that separates a bondage or discipline corset from ordinary fetish lingerie. A piece built only for a short scene is the wrong tool for sleep restraint.
Related corsetry
Adjacent history and hardware include the broader history of corsets, the hourglass corset, the training corset, the redresseur corset, and the work of Charles Guyette. On a fetish-clothing map the bondage corset is the long, rigid, tightly laced, movement-killing variant meant for discipline and extended wear, not a two-hour party cinch.
