Set against the vivid backdrop of the Renaissance, a hidden struggle unfolds between the corrupt elite of the church and a secret order of assassins devoted to safeguarding freedom. Maria and Lina, two adept and courageous assassins known as the "Shadow of the City," have made it their mission to expose and target the church’s corruption. However, when Captain Saul Macchione, disguised as Archbishop Christophe, traps them in an elaborate scheme, their mission takes a tragic turn.

Captured and restrained, Maria and Lina are brought before the Archbishop, who swiftly declares them guilty.
