After the first elections in a former African colony, hopes for empowering the black majority quickly collapsed. The winning party abolished the new constitution, suspended civil rights and declared a state of siege. Years of oppression turned into fierce reprisals. People's Tribunals claimed authority over the white minority and handed down harsh sentences, including forced labour. This story follows the prison built for thousands of white female prisoners — a facility that mirrors the country's brutal transition.
