WikiFeet: A Public Archive of Celebrity Feet

WikiFeet is a photo-sharing site built around celebrity feet. Eli Ozer, an Israeli former computer programmer and animator, founded it in 2008 and later ran it full time. He files images of actors, entertainers, and the occasional politician: a shoe kicked off on a red carpet, a beach candid, an interview with the shoes off, any public frame that catches toes or a sole. By July 2017, Ozer put the traffic at about three million views a month. In 2016 Lauren Oyler at Vice Media called it “the most extensive online message board and photo gallery of women’s feet on the Internet.” For foot-fetish readers it is not a dungeon tutorial. It is the place where a niche interest became something you can search. The camera stays below the ankle, and a fetish that used to be private sits inside the ordinary attention economy.

Catalogued without signing up

Foot fetishism already follows shoes, pantyhose, bare soles, and the geometry of high heels. WikiFeet is a crowdsourced scrapbook of those details on public figures. Users compare toe length, arch height, nail polish, and footwear habits. The charge is recognition plus inventory. A blockbuster star is filed as a foot model without ever signing up for that role. Set next to power exchange, the same pictures feed fantasies of kissing, sniffing, trampling, and shoe service. The site is fantasy fuel. It is not a substitute for negotiated play with a partner who agreed.

Foot forensics, and a 2019 hoax

The community’s eye for feet has been called foot forensics. In January 2019 a viral photo of feet in a bathtub was passed off as a 2016 nude of U.S. congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. WikiFeet users took the picture apart. Toes that were on the short side were the key evidence against the claim. The feet belonged to Sydney Leathers, who had been tied to the Anthony Weiner scandal in 2013. She later confirmed the identification to Washington Babylon. Eyes trained on this fetish read the photo more accurately than the tabloids that kept reposting it.

Copyright limits, and what the pictures are not

Since June 2021, visitors in the European Union cannot load full-resolution images, under the EU Copyright Directive. Even with that limit, the site remains a foot-fetish landmark and a place where people argue in public about the shape of famous feet. The words that sit around it are foot fetishism, toe cleavage, and celebrity kink gossip. For adult readers the site is a cultural reference. The feet in the frames are not consent from the people who were photographed.
