Patrick Conlon: Fetish Illustrator, Tranceptor, and Swarm

Patrick Conlon is a New York illustrator and tattooist known for erotic graphic novels and fetish collaboration. The work runs on two tracks that fetish art already knows: street tattooing, and erotic pictures. In the 1990s he worked at San Francisco’s Everlasting, and he went back when he was on the West Coast. In New York he worked at East Side Ink and at Graceland. In 2012 he opened Speakeasy Tattoo in Peekskill, New York. Tattoo clients have included the actor Daniel Day-Lewis and a small umbrella piece on Rihanna.

The Tranceptor series with Michael Manning

Collectors still talk about his collaboration with fetish artist Michael Manning. Together they made The Tranceptor Series. Conlon designed characters and painted narrative pages. Manning is known for a high-contrast fetish line. The mix built a shared world for readers who already followed Manning’s solo books.

The first volume, Tranceptor: The Way Station, was published by Amerotica in San Francisco in 1998 (ISBN 1-56163-211-2). By September 2004 they were still producing a second book. For adult readers it is a fetish fantasy set down as a printed comic.

Swarm, a painted matriarchy

Swarm is the graphic novel Conlon wrote and painted on his own. NBM published volume 1 in June 2004 (ISBN 1-56163-396-8). The story is set in a matriarchy. A sexually active queen is serviced by a swarm of obedient males, then threatened by the Planet Eater. Sequential paintings carry the female rule and the hive-like submission. Part 2 ran in Sizzle magazine and was bound as a book in 2006.
