Claire Thompson is a BDSM author who has published over eighty-five novels since 1996. Her fiction explores the romance of male/female erotic submission as well as the darker side of the BDSM experience, and she has also written a collection of male homosexual BDSM erotic romances. For readers who want long-form power-exchange fantasy, she is one of the more industrious names in English-language kink romance.
Career and publishers
Thompson started with Sarah’s Awakening. As a novelist she moves between tender D/s romance and harder SM emotional weather. She is prolific; around 2012 she was writing about four novels per year. Earlier she published with Ellora’s Cave, Samhain Publishing, the Black Lace series, and others. In 2009 she created her own imprint, Romance Unbound Publishing.
Awards
Thompson has received numerous awards. She won the National Leather Association’s Pauline Réage Novel Award for 2010 for Submission Times Two—a leather-community honor named for the author of Story of O. She also received the Golden Flogger Award (2017) for best BDSM dark erotica. Those prizes place her inside leather and kink-erotica circuits, not only general romance rankings.
Selected novels
A partial list includes Texas Surrender (Romance Unbound Publishing, 10 November 2009); Accidental Slave (Booksurge Publishing, 11 February 2009); Cowboy Poet (Romance Unbound Publishing, 5 November 2010); Enslaved (12 October 2011); The Auction (Romance Unbound Publishing, 19 October 2012); Jewel Thief (Romance Unbound Publishing, 1 November 2012); The Inner Room (Romance Unbound Publishing, 20 June 2014); Handyman (Romance Unbound Publishing, 3 November 2015); and No Safeword (CreateSpace, 15 January 2016). Titles signal auction and enslavement fantasy, cowboy settings, private protocol, and edge-play themes that flirt with safewordless intensity on the page even when real-world BDSM demands negotiation and consent.
Personal life
Thompson has two children, a son and a daughter. She identifies as a submissive and lives in New York state. That stance aligns with the submissive-centered erotic romances that make up much of her output. Official and bibliographical links include her website plus AllAuthor and FictionDB listings romance readers use to track series and dates.
Place in BDSM fiction
Commercial BDSM romance often softens dungeon reality; Thompson’s catalogue shows both tender D/s romance and darker SM storytelling, plus a dedicated MM BDSM strand. The NLA Pauline Réage award and Golden Flogger win mark peer recognition. With Romance Unbound and multi-decade output past eighty-five books, she remains a high-volume reference author for English BDSM fiction from the late 1990s through the mid-2010s and beyond.
